Good grief -- I've been a very lazy blogger. Apologies. So what's been going on? The Red Rocket family went to Florida last month. It was great. In addition to Disney, we also went to Discovery Cove. That's the place where you can swim with dolphins as part of an all-dayaquatic experience. It was very cool. I mean how often do you get a picture of your child like this? ![]() Even though it was hideously expensive for one day (In comparison, it makes Disney World look like Walmart pricing), it was a blast -- definitely one of the most fun things I've done without having to worry about being arrested. Its basically a day of snorkeling in the man-made lagoons and river. The lagoons are stocked with all sorts of tropical fish and rays, while the river is a heated, chlorinated river where you can float and warm up if get cold in the normal lagoons. (Being from New England, I thought the lagoons were perfectly warm and the river felt like soup, but i suppose Florida natives and other warm-weather folks might get chilled.) You are provided with a wetsuit and snokeling gear and you just snorkel around the park visiting the various lagoons and floating down the river through the aviary. The at your reserved time, you have a 30 minute "dolphin experience". It is done in a small group so everyone gets some time hands-on with the dolphin. Definitely cool. |
